1. General Rules

  • Only catches made with the string are counted.

  • Catches can result from throws made with the string or by hand (when starting a run).

  • Catches are valid only while no diabolo have been dropped.

  • A drop occurs when a diabolo, after a failed catch, hits the ground or any foreign object.

  • A drop is considered to have occurred the moment the diabolo should have been caught or touched, not when it hits the ground.

Counting and Timing Runs

  • Runs from 1 to 250 catches are measured by counting the number of consecutive catches.

  • Runs with over 250 catches are counted based on time.

  • Timing starts when the first throw leaves the hand or string and ends when the last valid catch touches the hand or string.

  • Collecting diabolos by hand for the purpose of finishing a run counts as valid catches.

  • Catches are counted from the first valid catch until the first drop or collection occurs.

  • The final run must be a consecutive series of valid catches without any missed catches.

2. World Record Rules

These rules follow a similar logic to JISCON rules for toss juggling, as accepted by the juggling community and refined specifically for diabolo.

Eligible World Record Runs

  • A world record must represent a current or former world's longest run of a pattern.

  • Public video evidence must be available, clearly showing the entire run to ensure adherence to the rules.

  • The run must achieve at least a "flash" of the pattern, where each diabolo is thrown and caught at least once.

Definition of a Drop

  • A drop signifies an end to a flash, run, or pattern.

  • A drop is a failed catch and is considered to have occurred the moment the diabolo should have been caught, not when it hits the ground.

Verification and Record Listing

  • To be valid, a world record must be proven with video evidence accessible to the public or DiaboloFocus.

  • The entire pattern must be visible in the video for the full duration, with no speed editing.

  • In the event of a tie, all holders of the same record will be listed.

  • If no video evidence is provided, the record will be marked as an Unverified Claim, requiring a link to a statement with all relevant details.
